Quick Tips The more you know the better(01)   Don't Panic. Being arrested for a DUI in San Diego doesn't automatically mean anything. Charges get dismissed and punishments get reduced.(02)   Get your car out of impound. (03)   You don't need to pay the DMV $125 right now. Achieve a DMV "set aside" and you won't be required to pay this fee. (04)   You don't need to enroll in a DMV program right now. If you do and complete the program before the court case is finished you may have to take the program over again. (05)   Realize that you will be getting "Junk Mail" from attorneys who PURCHASED YOUR NAME. (06)   Don't hesitate to call several lawyers. (07)   Beware the "in-office consultation" requirement. Some firms make you meet with a salesperson. You can get HONEST answers to all of your questions over the phone. (08)   Write down as much as you can. (09)   Think about things your attorney might be able to use on your behalf - cell phone records, credit card statements etc. (10)   Never speak to a "case manager," "case advisor," "legal administrator," "investigator," "assistant" etc. (13)   Remember that the basis for every case (both prosecution and defense) is the actual police report and associated "discovery" not available typically until after the 1st court date. (14)   Get reference letters from work, teachers, coaches, friends, volunteer orgs, certificates of acknowledgement or achievement, curent class schedule and grades, etc., to counter balance to the arrest report. (15)   Realize that when you hire a lawyer you are paying for their time. President Lincoln said at one point a "lawyers stock in trade are his time and advise." (16)   Always check the Better Business Bureau. Even with an out of state license you must request a DMV hearing within ten days. If you do not request this hearing you will lose your privilege to drive in California. For more information contact our office today. Call 619 804 7223
